Conifer Historic District? What do you think?

There's a once-in-a-lifetime confluence of historic preservation opportunities facing Conifer right now.

The Yellow Barn--three photos above of the outside, inside hay loft and community party room, and corral--located on historic the Bradford Junction (a former stag estop site), along with its ranch house, caretaker cabin and the historic Civil War Well, also pictured above--all of it is listed for sale right now and, who knows,it may be purchased by someone who doesn't care about preserving the Yellow Barn or local history. Think about that.

And there's Meyer Ranch and the historic Midway House stage stop that is a commanding entryway along U.S. Highway 285 into Conifer. The Conifer Historical Society and Museum is raising funds for a feasibility assessment of the property possibly becoming the site of a future museum. CHSM is fund-raising right now. You can purchase tickets to a Meyer Ranch Tour and Talk and, thus, assist the CHSM effort. Do it!

Also, attend the Conifer Area Town Meeting Sept. 15 at 7pm at West Jeff Middle School and hear about a possible effort to form a Conifer Historic District.

If any of this interests you, comment here. Let's get a conversation going! Heart and dollars will follow.

Help. Exchange students need homes. NOW!

I'm involved with Foreign Exchange HS students (FES) and I have two 16-yr olds, both from China, who need homes for this school year. They both enjoy hiking, bike-riding and the outdoors, amongst other things, and are both good students.  Yet they also seem quite different, too!
if you want to know more about these boys, then visit our website at: www.ayusa.org and enter their ID # as it appears at the top of the attached form.  Even if you're not able to host (again) this year, maybe you can think of any friends/family members who also might be interested!  So, feel free to forward this message with all my contact info on to anyone, OK?
Here's the kicker: I'm trying to place them by tomorrow, Monday, August 30th... hmmmmmm!
Let me know. Feel free to call either of my numbers as I'll be at work and the airport on Monday, too!
Thanks.

Three Dog Night loved Conifer crowd

Howdy folks -

We very much appreciate your attendance to see Three Dog Night and the Conifer Mountain Music Festival.
We have heard great feedback from you and appreciate that.....and hope you enjoyed the festival.

In years past the event 'exit' has generally been pretty orderly. But this year the event was simply 'bigger.' The 'exit' will be remedied as this event continues (now in its 4th year).

Please feel free to pass along any comments and again 'Thank You' for being part of this year's festival!

By the way - Three Dog Night advised me that you were a 'great and fun crowd,' much better than the crowds they have seen in many of the recent weeks leading up to this event, and they also really enjoyed the Colorado mountains!

Thank you again!

Music Festival rocks Conifer!

Three Dog Night, above left, draws young and old, getting even the vendors dancing.
Cynthia Weeks, owner of Luna's Mandala gifts, above right.

It was a rockin' good time at the Conifer Music Festival at Beaver Ranch Saturday.

Three Dog Night got the grandparents as well as the grandkids up on their feet singing and dancing.

The 3,000+ crowd was treated to good music, good food and a good time.

Hula Hoops to belly dances!
The event was staged by Red Stage Productions. Way to go, Bob Potrykus!
